Full Job Description

The Loans Engine is one of the UK's leading specialist mortgage, bridging loan and commercial mortgage brokerages, based in Watford, North London. Our goal is to become the market leader in the UK by 2025. We generate most of our new business leads through mortgage intermediaries who are our partners.

Our partners expect the best and our business model is to deliver the very best service to them supported by our in house award-winning underwriting software.

Our business development managers are responsible for managing the day to day relationship needs of our partners. You will act as the go-between these partners and our mortgage advisors ensuring that each and every partner receives world class service on each new lead. Your overall goal is to ensure our partners are successful when dealing with us. If they are successful then we will be.

Our service is delivered entirely via telephone and online so to be successful you need a confident telephone manner and the ability to instil trust in the partners you work with. The more they trust us the more they will use us to our mutual advantage. So you need to be attentive, engaging and have a real passion for customer service. That way you will build loyalty and an ever broadening portfolio of happy and successful partners.

You will join a training programme that will lead, over time and when you are ready, to taking over your own portfolio of partners. You will:

  • Educate your partners on our proposition to use our service again and again;

  • Provide high-quality, world class service to your partners;

  • Establish rapport with your partners and build lasting relationships;

  • Recommend solutions to your partners that meet their clients' needs;

  • Maintain and update accurate activity and partner records;

  • Meet sales targets and objectives as set by the firm;

  • Comply with Financial Conduct Authority rules and regulations (this will be trained).

  • What's more there are plenty of opportunities for career progression as well. On making a success of this role you could consider training as a mortgage advisor or underwriter. Or become a manager. Each member of our management team started as a Trainee within the firm.

  • Excellent communication skills;

  • Strong numerical and written skills;

  • The ability to explain complex information clearly and simply;

  • The ability to manage workload efficiently;

  • The drive & motivation to meet targets;

  • Educated to at least A level or equivalent; and

  • Experience of working within the financial services sector.

  • What are we really looking for from our Trainee Business Development Managers?

    Experience tells us that people from a banking, insurance, estate agency, sales or similar background adapt most quickly to working in a specialist mortgage brokerage like us.

    However, most of all we are looking for people with great attitudes and great values. Thirty five years of experience tells us that we can train most people to become a business development manager but our best managers have our values in their souls and we cannot train that. Either you have it or you don't. We want to recruit trainee business development managers with the potential to be great - you will need to share our values to do that.

    Are you looking for a rewarding career in financial services within a firm that offers investment in your future and clear progression in your development?

    Are you interested in obtaining a professional, industry recognised qualification?

    Do you want to join an entrepreneurial firm and help The Loans Engine become the UK's largest specialist mortgage broker by 2025?

    Then read on - this could just be the opportunity that you are looking for.

    Our competitive benefit package includes;
  • Starting basic salary of £30,000pa;

  • 25 days holiday plus an extra day for every 5 years' service (max 30 days);

  • Option to buy and sell holiday;

  • Fully funded CeMap qualification;

  • Company contributed pension of 8%;

  • Private medical health care;

  • Death in service benefit;

  • Working hours 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday;

  • Office based role in Watford, North London.
