School Counsellor (Part-time, Self Employed)

Oswestry School is seeking a part-time self-employed School Counsellor to join our counselling team and offer a regular counselling service which will promote and support the personal, social and emotional development and well-being of students, predominantly at the Senior School. They will contribute to raising the level of emotional literacy of the school and be a first-line response to mental health issues.

The successful candidate will work closely with the School's pastoral and safeguarding teams to develop a programme of therapeutic interventions to support pupils, liaising with and supporting the school staff as well as parents/carers and other professionals. They will work to ensure a collaborative whole-school approach that best supports the pupils in our School. Duties will include writing session notes, planning sessions and updating the school's internal systems.

This role is self-employed. You can choose your working hours but we are especially seeking someone who can work one or two days per week between 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, term-time only. You must have a recognised qualification as well as a proven record of counselling children and young people, ideally within schools. An understanding of the developmental, emotional, social and educational issues of children and young people is essential.

You must have your own insurance as well as an up-to-date DBS certificate or registered with the DBS update service (or a willingness to obtain before commencement of post).
