Full Job Description

To work with and lead a team of sterilisation technicians, co-ordinate and direct staff to ensure an effective, efficient service.
Process and prepare contaminated re-usable surgical instrumentation and equipment for use in hospital operating theatres, wards and departments for patient procedures.
To document and identify staff training needs.
To have knowledge and understanding of the sterile services tracking and traceability system
To have the ability to use the Trusts ESR Sickness and Absence Software.
Hours of work: 22:00-06:00 Monday to Friday, Supervise and monitor the delivery of the Trust Sterile Services, analyse complex information/situations and take remedial action when required to achieve and maintain standards contributing towards the highest standards of patient care to be delivered by the Trust
Supervising a culture of dynamic solution-based thinking, working and behaving
Contribute to continually achieve national targets/legislation and to meet the demands of other Trust services e.g., Theatres, endoscopy, outpatients, dental, etc.
Responsible for supervising work within the shift, adjusting this at short notice to meet demands of other departments e.g., ensuring that emergency theatre operations receive a fast-tracked service taking priority over daily planned activities
Effectively Communicate to team through Bulletins, Department News Letters and multidisciplinary meetings, delivering Trust and divisional team Briefs and engaging theatre users in professional, organisational issues
Ensure that resources within the department are used to maximum effect
Supervise the 8-hour provision of high-quality service provision, ensuring that the service continually meets the needs of its users
Ensure all staff are aware of their role and responsibilities, managing shift attendance, performance, and grievance issues with Line Mangers input also responsible for the recruitment of staff within your shift., This post will be subject to the terms and conditions of the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
CONFIDENTIALITY
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
