Full Job Description

  • Prepare proposals, request quotes and negotiate purchase terms and conditions.

  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and agreements.

  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns.

  • Regular onsite visits, with weekly/monthly management reviews.

  • Inspect and evaluate the quality of purchased items and resolve shortcomings.

  • Analyze industry and demand trends and support senior management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies.

  • To support the Operational Procurement Manager and Category Leads in pursuing business objectives.

  • To positively impact the company's KPI's with particular focus on EBIT.

  • To conform to policies and directives necessary in daily tasks.

  • To implement and maintain appropriate monitoring procedures including audits to validate, monitor and drive improved supplier performance.

  • To establish and support long term supplier relationships to maximise supply chain effectiveness

  • To identify, own and lead delivery of purchasing pipeline projects which achieve savings in excess of annual targets. Ensuring that forecasted performance is continually updated.

  • To negotiate key commercial contracts and long term agreements that serve the best interests of the organisation whilst protecting the company's best interests.

  • To identify and utilise synergies across SPS Aerostructures and other PCC companies as appropriate.

  • To co-ordinate key supplier rate readiness reviews through forecast provision, maintenance and long term agreement / contract implementation.

  • To constantly seek new sources of supply to obtain lower costs or higher value for operations.

  • To assess and mitigate risks associated with suppliers (incumbent and potential) through contract management / supplier audits.

  • To participate, identify, develop and implement continuous improvement activities throughout the supply chain.

  • To attend and positively represent Purchasing contribution to TOC walks.

  • To support Operational Purchasing where required in ensuring that Purchase orders are placed in a timely manner and that delivery schedules are strictly adhered to.

  • To ensure that sufficient material is available in the supply chain via use of forecasts issued to suppliers.

  • To enable sub contract suppliers to ensure sufficient capacity is available to fulfil SPS requirements via use of forecasts issued to suppliers.

  • To undertake any other duties specified by the Purchasing Manager to fulfil the business needs.

    Minimum of professional membership level of CIPS or equivalent

  • Previous experience in a Purchasing environment

  • Commercial and business acumen

  • High degree of flexibility
