Full Job Description

We are recruiting for a Head of Materials Improvement role within our Rolling Stock Customer Services business, this position will be based at our Northampton depot. Within this role, you will define and deploy robust material inflow strategies across all supply chains, addressing operational requirements inclusive of modifications, refresh and overhaul programs across the business.

You will take responsibility for establishing appropriate mechanisms and daily management of supplier performance to ensure timely provision of necessary parts and align with production plans for optimal effectiveness. Ensure adequate time and focus is provided in support of ongoing enhancement for material and logistics systems, processes and services throughout the Customer Service business by the deployment of established continuous improvement mechanisms and innovation.

You'll make an impact by

  • Leading and maintaining supplier performance prioritising cost-effective materials management and flow of materials into the business to align with both operational and commercial requirements

  • Defining and establishing data and technology strategies for the Customer Service business to enable data driven decisions in all departments with respect to materials and logistics

  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives within materials and logistics, with a primary emphasis on refining processes and technology

  • Overseeing supplier relationships throughout the CS business by facilitating interactions, gathering data, and coordinating efforts across all departments

  • Taking ownership of all material and logistics policies and procedures related throughout the CS business

    Experience of supplier and vendor performance management

  • Thorough knowledge and experience of Operations or Contractual management

  • Developing and delivering data and technology strategies

  • Experience of continuous improvement methodologies and implementation

  • Proficient reporting and presenting skills
