Full Job Description

Furthermore, we are trying to learn and draw inspiration from the wisdom of all the people that contributed in the development and maintenance of the estate through the centuries. Currently, we are working on the establishment of 2 vineyards, the orchard, the kitchen and the cut flower garden with 2 new glasshouses.

We are looking to hire a hands-on Head Gardeners assistant/ Team Leader with proven experience on a similar role. The successful candidate ideally will have a rounded horticultural knowledge and a very good understanding of the Biodynamic/organic principles and practices. You will be leading and working along the gardens team on the day-to-day activities. These include but not limited to the maintenance of the grounds and development of the formal gardens around the main House, the Walled Garden, the Arboretum and the production Garden.

The position is suitable for someone highly motivated, with excellent communication skills, able to understand priorities, pay attention to detail and work within deadlines. You will be asked to execute tasks to the highest standards with precision and care while guiding and empowering the gardening team in a positive manner. Your ethos should be reflected on the outcome of the work practice and the relations with Althorp community, collaborators and the wider community.

Althorp is a historic Estate in Northamptonshire with 4.500 acres of farm land under organic certification. The area of the 550 acres within the Park is undergoing through a phase of renovation and restoration in an attempt to bring back into dialogue the various elements that it consists of.
