Full Job Description

Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL) is the trading arm of The Salvation Army in the UK and Republic of Ireland. We were established in 1991 to help fund The Salvation Army's vital work in the UK, and today we raise money and encourage reuse and recycling through a network of over 250 charity shops and a clothing collection division.

SATCoL has ambitious plans to be a key enabler of the circular economy. We do this through:

  • Enabling the reuse of over 250 million products every year, with ambitious plans to increase reuse, repair and upcycling to avoid even more products from going to landfill.

  • Innovation in textile-to-textile recycling. Our vision is to have a Fiberfarm in the East Midlands where we can sort and repurpose all the worn out clothing and other textiles that we collect. We are already trialling a number of technologies and working with partners across the industry to make this vision a reality.

  • Our carbon reduction plan also includes ambitious targets to reduce carbon emissions from our operations (buildings, fleet, business travel and procurement).

  • This key role will help us deliver the next phase of our sustainability programme and our net zero targets. As one of our trailblazers for sustainability, you'll support the implementation of our strategy and action plan. You will collaborate with colleagues across all areas of the business, engaging them in the delivery of our plans for a sustainable future. This is a great opportunity to work at the heart of the fashion circular economy on a wide range of carbon reduction and textile recycling innovation projects.

You will work closely alongside our Head of Environment and Sustainability and our Circular Economy and Sustainability manager.

Based: Home based or at our Wellingborough Support Centre or South London (Caterham) satellite office, with occasional travel throughout the UK.,
  • To be part of such an historical organisation and knowing that by doing my job so many people feel the benefit when in need is the best job satisfaction you can ask for. I look forward to the next chapter and seeing how our great work further advances solving textile waste and helping the planet for everyone. - DG, Corporate Operations Manager

  • It is great working for SATCoL as the culture of the organisation is really strong, colleagues genuinely care for each other and through our profits we are helping the wider Salvation Army. The work is often both diverse and interesting. There is always support available and other support mechanisms. The company also has long term growth potential and expanding. NH - CIO

  • I've been really enjoying my time at SATCoL due to the opportunities I've been given and due to the amazing colleagues I've been working with on various projects. Although my job is very demanding as I liaise with multiple stakeholders, it is also extremely rewarding. Knowing that my work helps the mission of The Salvation Army is what drives me to always try my best, and SATCoL also celebrates the efforts of the employees. I 100% recommend working for SATCoL. - MT, Marketing Co-ordinator
