Full Job Description

Domestic cleaner required to clean and prepare a holiday cottage and two shepherd huts for guests during the middle part of the day. As a fair guide, the rate is £15 per hour, but it is a "piece rate" based on whether a hut or the cottage has been cleaned. Each cleaning session takes 1.5 to 2 hours and depends on how guests have left the accommodation.

We strive to make working at Grange Farm as much fun as possible, with everyone pulling together and making sure the standard of accommodation for guests is as high as possible.

Everyone in the team gets on well; it is a very enjoyable working environment and picturesque surroundings. There are occasional perks throughout the year, including , flowers from the cutting garden and surplus home-grown fruit and vegetables during the growing season, and a generous Christmas bonus.

We already have three cleaners, but now the accommodation is becoming increasingly popular, an extra team member is required. Guests check out nearly daily, and you will be on a rota with the rest of the cleaning team. You will be needed for around six hours per week.

Duties include:

  • Removing bed linen and towels

  • Cleaning kitchen and emptying bins

  • Vacuuming and washing hard floors

  • Clean bathroom, layout towels and top-up soap

  • Hiding a bottle of Prosecco in a treasure chest

  • Pea Cottage is a luxury one-bedroom barn conversion located in the village of Southorpe (between Stamford and Peterborough). The cottage needs cleaning immediately after guests have checked out at 11.30 am and before new arrivals check in at 3 pm.

Likewise, the shepherd huts have the same check-out and check-in times.

The cottage and huts provide a peaceful place to work, as you will see from their websites: www.peacottage.co.uk and www.ciderhuts.co.uk

All the accommodation is booked throughout the year, with the average guest staying around two or three nights. However, the popularity of the holiday lets means that although the requirement for a cleaner is permanent, the days vary according to when guests come and go.

The most common day for checking out is Friday and Sunday; after that, one or two other cleans may be required during the week.

Each cleaning session will take between 1.5 and 2.5 hours, and there is a four-hour "window" to complete the work. Therefore, reliability is essential, as is meticulous attention to detail to provide the best stay for our guests.

In your application, please tell us about yourself, your cleaning experience and your likely travel time to Southorpe.
