Full Job Description

Reporting to Head of Technical

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the food industry and willing to go the extra mile to improve site standards. Key responsibilities include,

Responsibilities

- Carry out internal audits as per audit schedule issued by Technical Manager

- Maintain training matrix. Arrange technical training, conduct staff trainings and briefings. Highlight gaps to department heads.

- Ensure up to date job descriptions are held on file for all operational employees

- Conduct and document competency checks including but not limited to CCPs, quality checks, preventative controls. Monitor ongoing compliance with documented spot checks.

- Monitor cleaning and factory hygiene. Provide feedback to production and highlight areas for improvement.

- Ensure ATP, Allergen and environmental swabbing is completed and operators completing the cleans are competent.

- Document cleaning procedures

- Chemical approval. Ensure correct documentation is held on file for all chemicals

- Equipment calibration and ensuring measuring equipment is in good working order

- Generating and updating mixing procedures.

- HACCP team member. Contribute to site HACCP plans.

- Carry out mock traceability and mass balance tests for materials with assured status claim.

- Create and maintain Packing Specifications for all products. Ensuring production always have the most up to date version

- Artwork sign off focusing on barcodes, packaging codes and legal information

- Support technical manager with the supplier management system, specifically ensuring certificates and specifications are kept up to date.

- Ensure hard copies of quality documents including site signage is kept up to date

- Maintaining medical questionnaire paperwork

- Collate and check agency paperwork

- Participate in food safety culture plan

- Completion of packaging weight information and of customer packaging questionnaires

- Production paperwork checks

- Materials and finished goods checks and release

- Generation of customer paperwork where required

- Arranging sample testing as per testing schedule

- Determine and implement quality improvements.

- Support Technical Manager in implementation of third-party accreditation and customer own label standards

- Support Technical department during staff shortages such as holiday cover.

- Any other reasonable duties that support the effective delivery of the role.

Essential

- Food Science degree or similar

- Good attention to detail

- Proficient in the use of IT programmes such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

- Highly organised

- Proactive

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Positive can-do attitude

Desirable

- Experience working in the food industry in similar role

- Food Safety L2

- HACCP L2

- Internal auditor trained

- Experience working with RTE ambient
