Full Job Description

The role is to provide support for commercial management activities within Public Sector and Defence.
Integrated into the business, the Commercial Manager's role is to optimize, together with the Commercial Director and the rest of the Account team, our commercial position and to ensure effective management of the contractual and commercial risks we hold.
Working in close collaboration with the Commercial Director, you will actively participate and advise on commercial issues and undertake customer engagement activities.
The Commercial Manager adds value to our external clients by building strong trusted commercial relationships and delivering highly professional contract and commercial management services that facilitates a shared view on the contractual and commercial landscape.,

  • Support the Commercial Director, Client Executives and the account teams in commercial and contractual discussions with the client around contract change, new business proposals, commercial disputes and emerging customer requirements, as required

  • Drafting and / or reviewing contract change notices to ensure compliance with the main agreement and evaluate the financial/commercial impact

  • Identify and raise contractual and commercial risks to the Commercial Director and Account Managers as appropriate, recommending potential solutions

  • Contribute to the commercial and finance strategy for the Accounts

  • Work with the relevant Account teams and service delivery lines to continually grow account revenue streams and improve contract profitability

  • Supporting the financial planning processes (Sales Rally forecast and budgeting)

  • Proactively handle Customer claims to prevent disputes or issues and, if needed, lead the management of responses and advise business partners of the contractual position

  • Ensuring contracts are monitored and commercial exposure is identified and reported

  • Provide ad-hoc financial and commercial support to the various Client Exec and Account teams

    Ability to develop and manage commercial relationships with customers and suppliers

  • Good understanding of Financial Management, financial measures as well as P&L implications of commercial changes

  • Experience working with Sales Teams in reviewing and preparing the Commercial elements of Proposals

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work independently and make decisions within delegations of authority


  • Desirable skills and experience:
  • Degree in either in Law or a relevant business-related subject

  • IACCM and/or MCIPS qualifications

  • Negotiation skills
