As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be offering high-qualitypsychological care to children and young people experiencing significant andcomplex mental health difficulties and their families.

You will bring advancedformulation skills and consultation to your team alongside wider servicedevelopment contributions.

There will be CPD opportunities to support you. These may be toconsolidate and develop knowledge and skills or to support you in transferringskills from another specialism.

We encourage interest from candidates withdiverse backgrounds and experiences, both personal and professional.

You will have regular clinical supervision and separate line management.You will be supported with a job plan and opportunities to develop supervisionand leadership alongside using research skills and engaging in servicedevelopment.

There is a strong and friendly network of Clinical Psychologistsworking across CFHD, enjoying shared CPD and professional support.

We also haveexcellent links with local Doctoral courses for teaching and Traineeplacements., You will be a qualified Clinical Psychologist with passion for workingwith children, young people and families. You will have the knowledge andskills to deliver evidence-based and outcome monitored psychological therapies.

You will be a reflective practitioner with strengths to bring to amulti-disciplinary team. You will be committed to service user participationand collaborative working with children, young people, parents, carers andfamilies.

You will have a good understanding of safeguarding across thelifespan. You will have, or be willing to develop skills and knowledge tosupport the development of others, such as supervision and training, as well asclinical leadership skills to contribute to quality improvement and servicedevelopment.

Mood, Emotions and RelationshipsPathway

In this pathway, Clinical Psychologists work within a strongmulti-disciplinary team, providing assessments and therapy to children withsevere, chronic and enduring mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety-baseddisorders and Trauma.

You would be expected to work with children, young people and familiesto understand their experiences and presenting concerns in order to provide anappropriate evidence-based intervention.

You would have opportunity to provide consultation, clinical supervisionand training. There are also opportunities for involvement in servicedevelopment and research as well as activities to support developing leadershipskills.

The multi-disciplinary teams arediverse including; Clinical Psychology, Systemic Psychotherapists, Child andAdolescent Psychotherapists, CBT Therapists, Psychiatrists, Speech and LanguageTherapists and Mental Health Practitioners from a range of backgroundsincluding Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work and Creative Therapies.

  • A Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent Masters level qualification in Clinical Psychology if qualified before 1996.

  • Active registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.

  • Post qualification specialist therapy / assessment training relevant to children and young people

  • Post qualification training or proven equivalent experience in supervision.


  • Experience

    Essential
  • Experience of working collaboratively with service users and their families / carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice.

  • Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies

  • Experience of working with a range of children and young people with complex needs maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal abuse

  • Experience of undertaking specialist psychological assessments and providing evidence based interventions, with the ability to work with complex needs and undertake risk assessments.

  • Experience in providing teaching and training

  • Experience of safeguarding children and ensuring the safety of young people in partnership with other agencies as appropriate.

  • Experience that evidences an ability to attend to diversity and work in a way that promotes anti-discriminatory practice.

  • Experience of managing and processing emotionally distressing information, seeking support as required

  • Experience in using neuropsychological assessments of cognitive functioning and / or learning disabilities in the context of diagnostic assessments of learning disabilities.

  • Experience of the assessment of capacity to consent and providing consultation to capacity assessments across a range of issues.


  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    Essential
  • Understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to children.

  • High level knowledge of Clinical presentations in children and young people

  • Ability to travel and work in a variety of locations, clinic base, schools, home visits.

    Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.

    CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to consultation with our service users and communities.

    CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training.

    Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families / carers.
