Carer / Personal Assistant (Direct Payments)

Committed, caring and flexible Personal Assistant's required for 2.1 support and supervise a non-verbal 12 year old boy who has ASD in and out of the community.
The hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable this family to manage their support independently. Training can be provided as required and where available.

Main Duties:
-Support and encourage him with activities of his interest
-Ensure his safety at all times (supervision is a must)
-Support him with toileting
-Support and encourage him with independent living skills in and out of the community

-A good sense of humour
-Have good communication skills
-Caring, kind and patient
-Punctual and flexible
-Able to use own initiative
-Experience in a similar role
-Knowledge or experience with special needs is necessary
-Reliable with good time keeping
-Self-motivated
-Able to maintain confidentiality and privacy
An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship

- Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car.
- Must have business insurance on vehicle to use it during the working hours.

5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata).
Sick pay at SSP rate if earning £120.00 or more per week.
Training provided to support you in your role.
