Are you looking for a new challenge? Wigan have a series of exciting opportunities as part of the implementation of the Family Safeguarding model including Business Support Officer roles as part of each multidisciplinary Family Safeguarding team and roles supporting the existing teams of Children in Care\Adoption and Children with Disabilities.

The new Family Safeguarding Teams will be co - located multidisciplinary teams consisting of social work professionals and adult workers. Their aim is to work collaboratively with the right families, at the right time, respecting families' rights, following guidance and law. They take a whole family approach to child protection to keep more children safely at home with their families.

As a Business Support Officer, you will be working in a rewarding and fast paced environment as a valued member of the team delivering support to the overall team and families in their journey. We are looking to recruit five Business Support Services Officers who enjoy helping others, are well organised and have good communication skills. New appoints will support either the new model or join a team of existing staff supporting Children in Care\Adoption and Children with Disabilities social work professionals.

Your role:

These roles are critical to the proper functioning of the multi-disciplinary team and could involve such things as:

  • Utilising software packages such as Microsoft Office, and preparation of letters and documentation according to local procedures and statutory/ legal requirements

  • Updating and managing computer databases and spreadsheets, provide reports and assist in compiling information such as statutory returns, uploading of documents to Livelink.

  • Booking Group Case and Personal Supervisions.

  • Minuting meetings.

  • Typing case supervisions onto electronic systems.

  • Providing professional support to Senior Officers and Managers dealing with confidential and sensitive matters, answering telephone calls, and providing information as a first point of contact.

  • Undertaking a range of administrative duties such as note and minute taking, filing, scanning, and photocopying and dealing with all general matters including cash handling, correspondence, according to local procedures

  • Sending out various communications.

  • Managing team commitments avoiding scheduling conflicts and arrange meetings and training courses, venues, agendas

    We want great team players who are organised and have a passion for providing administrative support to join our teams. If you are a whizz at using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel and are a great communicator, we would love to hear from you.


  • Our ideal candidates would be an experienced minute taker or have experience in taking notes from meetings and experience using a case management or recording system however full training will be provided.

    Salary: Grade 4, £11,750 - £12,351 per annum. £12.18 - £12.80 per hour
