Full Job Description

L & A Joinery undertake both bench joinery and site joinery therefore the successful applicant can choose the pathway if they have a preference.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following when working on site:

  • First Fixing: Installing door frames and windows frames, stairs

  • Second Fixing: Fitting wall and floor units, fitting side hung doors, fix ironmongery on doors, installing architrave, skirting boards, stair components

  • Interpret drawings and work to specifications


  • There will also be an element of bench joinery which will include:
  • Interpret drawings specification

  • Basic assembly of products such as wardrobes and cupboards, doors and windows

  • Manual handling - move, handle and store materials

  • Sanding and painting products produced

  • Use of hand tools and equipment after training

  • General housekeeping

  • Adhering to H&S, The apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in Carpentry and Joinery Level 2

  • The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated assessor who will provide support and guidance throughout the course

  • This is a day release programme which means you will attend Lincoln College, 1 day per week, term time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours

  • Functional skills maths and English

  • Apprentice must be prepared to sit the functional skills exam which is offered on a block release if necessary

    After successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be a full-time permanent position available with the possibility of progressing to a level 3 apprenticeship, Communication skills, Attention to detail, Problem solving skills, Logical, Team working, Initiative, Physical fitness, Good attendance, Timekeeping, GCSE or equivalent English and Maths (Grade A/9 - C/4) Desired, A degree of physical fitness is required as the apprentice will be involved in lifting, assembling and installing doors and windows.

    Providing site and bench joinery for domestic builds in and around Boston, Lincolnshire.
